These photos were taken from the back side of Jaggar
Museum. Sometimes when the clouds come in from the Hilo direction and the mist
lingers in the air there is a beautiful rainbow right to the left of Halemaumau
Crater. What a sight!
There is currently no red lava visible in the crater,
but we have been told that it is only about 300 feet below the surface. Who
knows,... it might be just a matter of time till this crater erupts again.
