The Volcano area is located on the South East part of the Big Island of Hawaii, about 97 miles from Kona  and 28 mineiles from Hilo.  The "Big Island" is the most southern island in the State of Hawaii.   

On the map on the right ( Click on map for larger view) the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is marked in green.  If you enjoy hiking, there are miles and miles of trails.  Volcano Village is located about 1 mile from the entrance of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.   In the Volcano area you will find a variety of accommodations to fit any budget.  Friendly family operated Bed and Breakfast places, charming vacation houses, and even a very affordable hostel.   

Volcano is located about 3800 feet elevation, so don't expect sand and coconut trees.  This majestic area features a tropical rainforest filled with lush foliage including such unique plants as Ohia trees with bright red Lehua Blossoms, and Hapu'u tree ferns.  The weather can change quickly so always bring a sweater.

 Volcano does not have sidewalks, signals, or general "neighborhood" street lights.  There are maybe a total of  about  5 streetlights in our area, and they are all at highway intersections or the local stores.  So when it is dark... IT IS DARK..in Volcano.  Combined with our little Village Roads you may want to get early to Volcano so you can find your Bed and Breakfast or Vacation House during the daylight.  "Darkness" has great rewards, however...If we have a clear night ( that's when it gets cold in Volcano), and you look at the sky .....you will find yourself say...."It is full of stars!"...There is a reason the Big Island is known for the telescopes on Mauna Kea.  .... ..for more information click on any of the following links:
